Definitive Healthcare names Clay Ritchey CEO, effective September 8
The healthcare data and analytics firm turns to a 25-year industry veteran after Kevin Coop's departure at end of August.

Definitive Healthcare has appointed Clay Ritchey as its next Chief Executive Officer, effective September 8, 2026. The Framingham, Massachusetts-based healthcare data and analytics firm (Nasdaq: DH) said its Board of Directors named Ritchey to the top job and to the board itself, according to a press release dated September 2, 2026.
Ritchey succeeds Kevin Coop, who departed as CEO and from the board effective August 31, 2026. The company cited Ritchey's more than 25 years of healthcare experience in the announcement.
Definitive Healthcare sells data and analytics products aimed at the commercial side of healthcare. Its product footprint spans reference and affiliations data, Monocl for medical and scientific expert identification, Populi for claims and consumer analytics, and Carevoyance for sales enablement. That product surface puts Definitive Healthcare in competitive proximity to expert-identification workflows familiar to buy-side researchers and life-sciences commercial teams.

The company did not disclose an interim CEO for the eight-day window between Coop's departure and Ritchey's start.

Definitive Healthcare's next scheduled disclosure will be the first opportunity to hear Ritchey directly on strategy and capital allocation. The forward-looking statements section of the press release flags the standard risks around leadership transition. What matters for holders is whether the new CEO uses the next earnings call to reset guidance or endorse the existing plan.
