Perplexity adds Guidepoint expert calls to its finance connector stack

Perplexity has wired Guidepoint expert calls into Perplexity Computer as a finance data connector, letting users pull expert-network content in the same workflow that already surfaces FactSet fundamentals and Carbonarc alt data. The update, flagged by Perplexity's Daniel Wang on X, arrived with 16 new finance skills and brings the total to over 30 skills aimed at automating parts of the investment research process.

The connector model matters because it changes where expert-call content shows up in the workflow. Guidepoint's transcript library and call summaries have historically lived inside the firm's own client environment, or been exported into buy-side note-taking and CRM systems. Routing that content into a general-purpose AI research surface, alongside a fundamentals feed (FactSet) and an alt-data feed (Carbonarc), positions expert calls as one input in a broader retrieval stack rather than a separate destination the analyst has to switch to.

Perplexity has been building out Perplexity Computer as a workflow layer for finance users through 2025, and the skills count is the metric it has publicly emphasized. Wang's post pegs the new total at over 30 skills, with 16 added in this release. The skills framing (discrete, automatable investment tasks) is closer to how sell-side desks describe first-read workflows than how AI platforms typically talk about features.

Neither Perplexity nor Guidepoint has publicly detailed the commercial structure of the connector, the scope of Guidepoint content exposed (full transcripts, summaries, or metadata only), or how MNPI-screening and compliance controls carry across the integration. Those are the questions that will determine how much of the buy-side actually turns it on.

For institutional users, the immediate test is whether the connector meaningfully compresses the time between a research question and a defensible answer that cites expert-call content, fundamentals, and alt data in one pass. That is the workflow claim implicit in the skills count. What matters over the next quarter is whether analysts actually route work through it, and whether other expert-network vendors treat the Guidepoint move as a template or a warning.
