Six Degrees Intelligence adds China research to S&P Capital IQ Pro

Six Degrees Intelligence, a Shanghai-based qualitative research platform, will distribute its China-focused research content to S&P Global Market Intelligence clients through Capital IQ Pro, the two firms said on September 2, 2026. The content covers industrial innovation, technology, and the energy transition, sourced through Six Degrees' expert network on the mainland.

The arrangement makes Six Degrees' research available to Capital IQ Pro users globally, according to the announcement. Six Degrees describes itself as a qualitative research platform operating an expert network in China, with coverage spanning industrial innovation, technology advancement, and the energy transition.

"This launch demonstrates the global community's growing interest in China's industries and technologies are ever-increasing by the global community," said Stefan Li, Founder and CEO of Six Degrees Intelligence, in the press release. "We are proud to contribute Chinese perspectives to S&P Global Market Intelligence's extensive research database and provide its users with a deeper understanding of the world's second-largest economy."

Neither firm disclosed commercial terms, exclusivity, volume commitments, or the compliance framework governing how Chinese expert-sourced content is reviewed before distribution. The press release did not specify which Capital IQ Pro tiers will carry the content or when publishing cadence begins beyond the September 2 launch date.

Why it matters

China research access has been the sharpest constraint on global buy-side workflows for the past three years. After the 2023 raids on Capvision and Bain's Shanghai office, several major expert networks paused or restructured their mainland calls, and Western clients pulled back on primary research into Chinese issuers. A supply gap opened. Local platforms operating inside the compliance perimeter of the mainland have the raw sourcing advantage; global terminals have the distribution. A content partnership routes around the direct-call problem by delivering the research as pre-vetted written insight rather than a live expert conversation.

Two things worth watching. First, the compliance layer: Capital IQ Pro sits on the desks of US and European investment professionals who need to know how the source expert was screened, what the export-control review looks like, and whether the content is licensable into an IC memo. That framework was not disclosed. Second, the format: if the deliverable is short primers and thematic notes rather than transcripts, it is closer to sell-side sector research than to expert-network output, and buyers will price it accordingly.

The deal is a distribution win for Six Degrees and a content-shelf addition for S&P Global Market Intelligence. Whether it becomes a template for other regional expert-network platforms plugging into global terminals depends on how the compliance story reads to the first cohort of Capital IQ Pro users who actually cite it.
